Overlay cladding is required for surface protection against corrosion and erosion/corrosion in power boilers and waste heat recovery systems

Weld Overlay Cladding is a process that involves metallurgically bonding a Corrosion Resistant Alloy to the surface of a Base Metal providing it with corrosion resistant property.

In most waste heat recovery systems and boilers, the heat transfer tubes are usually made of ferritic steels, like carbon and Cr-Mo steels.

Ferritic steels provide not just strength and structural integrity for these tubes but also superior resistance to pressure water, high temperature and steam used for the heat transfer.


But, in many cases, the ferritic steels, do not offer sufficient resistance to high temperature corrosion attack from the combustion products in boilers or from the hot exhaust flue gas stream in waste-heat recovery systems.

Using automatic overlay cladding machines, weld overlay cladding with a high-temperature corrosion resistant alloy, has been widely accepted to be an effective, long-term, cost-effective protection method to provide life extension for boilers and waste heat recovery systems.
